Advancing Your Clinical Teaching (07): Learning Climate and Hidden Curriculum
Self-paced
Full course description
Dr. Scott Holliday, Associate Dean for Graduate Medical Education at The Ohio State University and Dr. Dan McFarlane, a Med-Peds Hospitalist at Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and Nationwide Children’s Hospital, have developed this module which focuses on optimizing the learning environment. As educators, we spend a great deal of time on the content of our education, but often shortchange the learning environment in which it's delivered and the potential impacts thereof. Each faculty member has the responsibility to promote an educational environment in which everyone can succeed. In the high stress environment of health care, it is easy to be
distracted from that responsibility or to let that stress deteriorate the learning climate. This module examines national trends and the trends here at OSU related to the learning climate and provides tools to assess and optimize the learning environment, and reinforces institutional policy and accreditation standards regarding the learning environment.
