Self-paced
Full course description
Do you want to know how to create a respectful learning environment? Unfortunately, learner mistreatment during training is common. Student and learner mistreatment may have potentially serious and long lasting consequences. In this module, we involve you in a dialogue that will help you to better understand how to recognize and prevent mistreatment in medical education.
This module was developed by the Wayne State University Office of Student Affairs as part of its efforts to help create a learning culture free of student and learner mistreatment.
Participants who complete this module will be able to:
- Define mistreatment in learning environments.
- Review the national AAMC Graduation Questionnaire data on medical student mistreatment.
- Discuss the history and current national data on student mistreatment in medical school.
- Identify how faculty actions influence the learning of students and trainees in medical education.
- Discuss the long term consequences of mistreatment and how it can be eliminated.
