Full course description

Faculty and instructors in medical education settings recognize our learners' ability to assimilate extensive bodies of knowledge, develop appropriate attitudes, and perfect meaningful learning and clinical skills. Faculty can promote the development of learners by providing effective formative feedback. In the first module of this series, Feedback I: From Theory to Models, the power and principles of effective feedback in medical settings are detailed. In module two, Feedback II: Promoting A Positive Feedback Culture, the framework of feedback within a social and organizational culture is presented.

This module will apply three specific methods for delivering appropriate feedback and learn the process for facilitating SMART action plans with your learners.

Participants who complete this module will be able to:

  1. Provide examples of appreciative and constructive Micro-Feedback for improving performance.
  2. Describe the steps involved in delivering Ask-Tell-Ask feedback.
  3. Contrast the STATE model of feedback with the Ask-Tell-Ask model.
  4. Create a SMART Action Plan to assist learners in benefiting from effective feedback.
