Pain Rehabilitation and Education: Values and Actions That Improve Life (PRE:VAIL)
An Interdisciplinary Approach to Care for Chronic Pain
Treating chronic pain can be both confusing and challenging. At PRE:VAIL our mission is to empower patients with chronic pain to live productive and meaningful lives through coordinated, multimodal, team-based care by focusing on:
Our Values (the Big Four):
- MOBILITY: movement around home, outdoors, and in the community
- FUNCTION: activities of daily living, caring for self and others, work
- COPING: emotional, mental, and spiritual wellness and resilience
- QUALITY OF LIFE: purpose, fulfillment, and joy each day
Our main message is movement is beneficial for chronic pain even if it hurts. With chronic pain, hurt does not mean harm. In treating chronic pain movement is the main way the body heals itself.
